How has Leicester City’s goal difference fared under Brendan Rodgers?

Brendan Rodgers left Celtic for Leicester City in February of the 2018/19 season and is still the Leicester manager today.

He has had a fairly successful reign as the Foxes boss as he has led them to Europa League qualification twice and an FA Cup victory in 2021, becoming the only manager in the club’s history to do so.

This season, Leicester had a very slow start as they had to wait until October for their first league win. They conceded twenty-two goals in their first seven games which made them unwanted record holders as this was the most a Premier League team had conceded in seven games.

However, they are improving as they have only conceded one goal in their last six games, keeping five clean sheets in the process.

This made me curious to find out whether Rodgers’ team’s goal difference is improving or declining since he has been there.

This graph shows Leicester’s goal difference has been declining each season. The biggest drop-off came in 21/22 as they scored less and conceded fifty-nine goals compared to forty-one and fifty in previous seasons.

Elliot Sumner, who runs a Leicester City fan page (crazyaboutLeicester) on Instagram, said about the fall in goal difference: "I think the goal difference is declining because we have conceded many goals from corners but Rodgers has recently appointed a new set-piece coach along with new signing Wout Faes which I think will help us stop this decline."

This is one opinion from a fan, but what do you guys think is the reason for Leicester City’s goal difference taking a hit in successive seasons?
