How does Leicester City's form after 15 games compare to 2014/15 season?

Leicester City made a poor start to their 2022/23 Premier League season, conceding 25 goals and suffering eight losses so far.

However since their fixture against Nottingham Forest at home on 3rd October, it looks as if they’re turning their season around.

After 15 games played, Leicester have won five games, drawn two and lost eight, with them currently sat in 13th place on 17 points going into the World Cup break.

The Foxes found themselves in 19th place after three games played and went on to lose six games in their opening seven. Their defence were constantly conceding goals and racked up a total of 22 goals against them in just seven games. Eleven of those goals came in just two games after a 5-2 defeat at Brighton and a 6-2 defeat against Tottenham the week after.

City then remained in the relegation zone until their 12th game when they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 and were up to 17th. Leicester were forced back down to 18th after a narrow loss to Manchester City, but climbed out of the drop-zone and up to 14th after a comfortable win against Everton.

Here’s how Leicester compare to their last eight seasons in the Premier League:

In the 2014/15 season newly promoted Championship champions Leicester finished 14th with 41 points after their first time in the Premier League in 10 years.

The Foxes sat bottom of the table from their 13th game and remained there for the next 18 weeks. They didn’t climb out of the relegation zone until their 33rd match against Burnley, after winning seven out of their last nine games.

Compared to the ‘great escape season’ Leicester are seven points better off with more than double the number of wins. They also look to be turning their season around now before the World Cup break, whereas in their 2014/15 season they didn’t turn their season around until the last nine weeks of that season.

Lifelong Leicester City fan, George Bryan-Dooher, 21, explained his thoughts on Leicester's first 15 matches: "At the start of the season I feared the worst, and it got to a point where I expected relegation.

"It looks like Brendan is now turning the tide although I’m still unsure he’s the man to take us forward long-term. I feel like with a good a run of form after the WC we can potentially sneak into a European spot."
